Today I went and picked up our frizzle chicks. I got 4. There were two more there, but we think they are half silkie so I didn't want them.
The little brown one on the right is definitely a boy. After putting him in with the 'big' chicks (I think our original chicks must be a week or so older?), I found him doing the male bobbing / fighting thing. I think he's definitely a boy.
The little white chick has fitted right in with everyone. I'm thinking she's a girl? She has a mother who lays green eggs and is part Aruacana so the lady said she thinks she'll be similar and may lay green eggs too. How cool would that be? A frizzle and a green egg layer!!!!!
The two little black ones I'm not sure about. I think they are girls. There is no fighting going on but Wendy doesn't like them. She is pecking at them. So I'm not sure what's going on there? And in fact it's one more than the other.
Tonight I went out and the little white one and the brown one were already under Wendy and I couldn't see her. I'm figuring they're fine. Grin. The two black ones were out and about and Wendy pecked at one of them again. I popped them under her and all was fine.
I'm going back out to check shortly to make sure they are ok. It's cold and wet out there and I want to ensure they are ok!
We don't have names yet. We haven't really sat down to talk about it. Crazy huh?! I think the kids and I will talk about this over breakfast tomorrow.
Matt had a lovely time holding the little brown one this afternoon. He was going to have him. Then we saw that he is a boy. Bother!
The two black chicks have 5 toes and black skin. So they may be silkies too. But they also have feathers on their feet. They look similar to a Langshan.
We are going to have an interesting time with these chicks and if we get more than one girl, you may be interested in having one? They are so cute so far!
