Ive been reading about people who take out the fluffied chicks while the others are still hatching so mother hen can concentrate on those still hatching instead of her going off with the first chicks. They suggest taking the firsts inside and returning them once the others have hatched. Are you going to do this? I expected to let nature do its thing but am wondering if it may result in a few 'not making it'. Ideas?
Oh! I hadn't seen this. I must do some more research. I was planning on letting nature take its course.
ReplyDeleteMy immediate thought is where would they go? They need to have warmth and that would mean setting up a special system for them wouldn't it? Mmmmmm. Interesting.
I talked to someone at school who hatches under broodies. She said leave them to it unless its taking ages... which our shouldn't as the set together. if they do take ages take them inside under a lamp
