Day 22 Abandoned nest

After taking the kids to school I came home to check on the chicks.

I opened up the lid of the nesting box and found this...

Blah has moved her chicks off the nest and abandoned the final egg. We always thought this egg wasn't fertile. But I always hoped.

I picked up the egg which was cold and removed it. I may open it in a plastic bag to see what if anything developed. For curiosity sake.

I feel a little sad, but also incredibly happy and grateful for the beautiful brood we do have.

I've moved the food and water towards the door more to get the chicks used to it being moved, and also so it gets closer and closer to outside.

I'm looking forward to seeing them grow and develop and change today.
